ASICS' brand identity today is rooted in sustainability and inclusive wellness. In Little Tokyo, the project creates a quiet transition between the dense tourist corridor and something more intimate, inviting people to slow down and explore. Two contrasting paths drive movement through the pavilion and split levels, apertures, and openings create unexpected moments of interaction throughout. The design began as a simple grid of modular 3-by-3-foot cubes carved around a circulation core. The box design is drawn from the shoebox itself: corrugated polycarbonate sheets fold and stack via steel brackets, simplifying assembly and disassembly. The wall opposite the central stair traces ASICS's full history, with projections and archival shoes displayed across illuminated cube faces, making the assembly read as a single glowing mass.
